How to Make Vegan French Toast

“As a vegan body-builder I want to show others that it is possible to gain significant muscle and strength on a vegan diet and I want to inspire others to follow this lifestyle. I love being vegan and knowing that I am having a positive impact on our society.”

Similar to the stuffed French toast recipe, this vegan version is packed with flavour! One of the benefits of this version is that it is so quick and easy to make. In literal minutes you can be enjoying your breakfast!

There are a bunch of different versions of vegan French toast. Some use cornstarch, some use tofu, but I really enjoy my blend of ingredients. So give it a go and tell me what you think. Happy eating!

Ingredients:

1/4 cup (30g) - Whole Wheat flour

1/2 tsp - baking powder

1 tsp - Ground flaxseeds

1 tsp - Ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp - Ground nutmeg

2 tbsp - Sugar (substitute for maple syrup or cane sugar)

1 cup (215g) Almond milk

1 tsp - Vanilla extract

Directions:

1. Lightly grease a frying pan with vegan butter or coconut oil. Set the stove to a medium/high heat.

2. In a bowl big enough to hold a slice of bread, whisk together your flour, flaxseeds, baking powder, sugar, and spices.

3. In a small bowl, combine the milk and vanilla extract. If you are using maple syrup, add it to the wet ingredients now. Whisk together.

4. Pour your wet ingredient into your dry ingredients and stir until completely combined.

5. Dip your bread in the mixture. Let it sit for 2 seconds then flip to the other side for an additional 2 seconds. Place into the frying pan. Give each side 2-3 minutes before flipping.

6. Serve with your favourite toppings.

Any leftover "batter" can be placed into a tight sealing container and placed in the fridge.
