Baked Pears

“Whatever you do, do it gently and unhurriedly, because virtue is not a pear to be eaten in one bite.”

– Seraphim of Sarov

Let's just get right down to it; baked pears are delicious!

This recipe is ridiculously easy! It's sweet, crunchy, warm and inviting and what I consider to be a perfect end to any dinner!

Ingredients:

4 Bosc Pears (sliced and halved)

1/2 cup (120-130ml) - Maple Syrup

1/2 tsp - Ground Cinnamon

1/4 tsp - Ground Nutmeg

1/2 tsp - Vanilla Extract

Plain Greek Yogourt and Granola (for toppings)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  3. Wash and slice the pears. Using a measuring spoon, scoop out the seeds in a circular motion. Be careful not to scoop to deep so that you don't make a hole in the sliced pear.

  4. Place them in the parchment-lined tray. Set aside.

  5. In a small cup or measuring cup, combine the maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla extract. Mix until everything is fully incorporated.

  6. Pour the maple syrup mix all over the pears until completely covered. Save some to drizzle later.

  7. Place the tray into the oven for 25-30 minutes. The pears should be a little soft and the edges should begin to brown.

  8. Allow a few minutes to cool after coming out of the oven.

  9. Place a dollop of yogourt on top of each pear and serve with a sprinkling of granola.

  10. For added decadence, drizzle more of the maple syrup mixture over the granola.
