5 Minute Protein Balls

"I find that protein wakes up my brain and gets me ready for the rest of my day."

-- Marisa Tomei

These no bake protein balls are so easy and so delicious! You have got to give them a try! One of the many great things about them, is that they are so flexible in terms of what ingredients you can add add or take out! Just start with the base ingredients (oats, a nut butter and a honey or maple syrup), and the rest is completely up to you!

Proteins consist of amino acids, and our bodies can produce most of the amino acids we need to stay healthy, but there are nine amino acids that we cannot produce, and must consume through diet. The nine amino acids that our body cannot produce are called essential amino acids. Just in case you didn't know:

"Humans can’t survive without all nine essential amino acids. Protein is essential to building bones, and body tissues, such as muscles, but protein does much more than that. Protein participates in practically every process of a cell. It plays a part in metabolic reactions, immune response, protein provides a source of energy, assists in cellular repair, form blood cells, and more." - mana.md

These protein balls are a quick and easy solution to making sure you're getting the protein you need, while making sure you're not snacking too often or on things you'll just end up feeling guilty about later! lol

1 1/2 cups (162g) - Rolled Oats (Or quick cook oats)

2 scoops - Vanilla Whey Protein

A few dashes of Cinnamon

1/4 cup (75g) - Honey (or maple syrup)

1/2 cup (40g) - Shredded Coconut

Dried Cranberries (to taste)

Dried Mango (to taste - chopped)

  2. Next, add in your chopped dried fruit and coconut. Mixed until fully combined.

  3. Pour in the honey and peanut butter. Mix vigorously until the ingredients begin to form a ball. If you find that your batter is too dry, add in a tablespoon of almond milk at a time and knead the batter until you have a consistency that can easily form a ball, hold its shape, and doesn't crumble.

  4. Place the balls in an airtight container and place in the fridge for snacking on whenever you'd like!
