Oatmeal Cocoa Bombs

"Christmas can't be bought in a store. Maybe Christmas means a bit more."

-- Dr. Seuss

Well, 2020 will forever be one of the most unforgettable years for many reasons, but one of the happier reasons will be because of the "explosion" of the cocoa bomb. These things became an overnight TikTok sensation and everyone had to either have one, or make their own. I wanted to do something a little different from the convention hot cocoa treat that people were putting inside, and opted for a decadent version of your average oatmeal. This recipe is definitely not meant for everyday morning, but it will for sure wake you up and fill you up on the slow weekend mornings you choose to do it on! Enjoy!

Ingredients:

1 pk (225g) - Chocolate (I used "Baker's Secret" in this recipe)

1 cup (86g) - Quick Cook Oats

1 tsp - Ground Cinnamon

1-2 tbsp - Brown Sugar

Dried fruit (mango, cranberries, blueberries, apple, etc.)

Directions:

1. In a bain marie (water bath or double boiler), melt the chocolate after chopping it up into small pieces. This will make for a faster melting process. You can also opt to use the microwave instead of the bain marie. Simply microwave the chocolate in 30 second increments, stirring each time until fully melted.

2. Pour the chocolate into the prepared molds and use a spoon or a brush to completely coat the entire inside of the sphere. Turn it upside down and allow the excess to drip out.

3. Place the mold, upside down, either on a cooling wire or another tray and place in the fridge for a minimum of 1-2hrs. A day or more works best.

4. Prepare the "filling". In a small container, place the oats, cinnamon, brown sugar and dried fruit and mix together until thoroughly combined. set aside.

5. Place a pan on the stove and set to a low heat.

6. Take the molds out of the fridge and fill half of them with the oatmeal mixture.

7. Take an unfilled chocolate sphere and place in the pan for a few seconds (facing down), allowing the chocolate to melt just a little.

8. Connect the sphere to a filled sphere ensuring that all sides are completely even.

9. Optional: drizzle a little chocolate and coconut on top for added decoration.

10. Place a cocoa bomb in a bowl and pour hot milk over it and watch as it melts and opens to reveal its oaty goodness! Stir and cover for 2-3 minutes or microwave for 1min to speed up the oat's cooking process.
