Easy Belgian Waffle Recipe

"We need to remember what's important in life: friends, waffles, work. Or waffles, friends, work, it doesn't matter. But work is third."

-- Amy Poehler

Belgian waffles are a great alternative (assuming you have a waffle iron!) to pancakes when you want something a little special in the morning.

The recipe is super easy and comes together quickly. You should get about 4-6 waffles and from each waffle you'll get, 435 calories, 18g fat, 9g protein, and 15g of carbs.

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups (400g) - All Purpose Flour

1 tbsp - Baking Powder

3 tbsp - Sugar

½ tsp - Salt

1 tsp - Ground Cinnamon

1 tsp - Ground Nutmeg

2 Egg yolks

2 Egg whites

½ cup (100ml) - Vegetable Oil

2 Cups (510ml) - Almond Milk

1 tsp - Vanilla Extract

Directions:

  1. Preheat your waffle iron.

  2. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg with a whisk.

  3. Separate your eggs into two bowl; egg whites in one bowl and egg yolks in the other.

  4. Beat your egg whites until stiff peaks are formed. Set aside.

  5. Combine the yolks, oil, extract and milk.

  6. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix until combined.

  7. Add the egg whites, and using a spatula, fold the whites into the batter. This will take a few minutes, but take your time and it will all eventually become incorporated.

  8. Lightly spray the waffle maker with a non-stick spray and laddle your batter onto the bottom iron. Close and wait. Each waffle takes approximately 8-10 minutes, depending on how brown you like your waffles to be.

  9. Enjoy with your favourite toppings!
